SonicBee partner of Identity Day Coalition

We’re proud to share that we’ve officially joined the Identity Day Coalition as partner. This means we support the advancement of legal identity and verifiable proof of identity for all globally. Legal identity is a human right and practical necessity among others for digital identity. 

Identity Day, held every year on 16 September, highlights the fundamental importance of legal identity and a safe, inclusive and accessible (digital) world. The theme this year is “My Identity, My Umbrella” and underscores how secure, well-managed identity should both shield and strengthen. 

Your identity is so implicit in every day life, be it offline or online, that we often forget how important it is. Untill there is an issue with your identity, think of identity theft, or when your not able to access your online identity. On Identity Day we promote awareness for the UN SDG 16.9, legal identity for all, as a basic right and enabler for everyone’s legal recognition’.

About Identity Day 

Identity Day (16.9) refers to UN Sustainable Development Goal 16.9, which calls for providing legal identity for all, including birth registration, by 2030. Not just as human right but also as practical necessity. It was launched to raise awareness and direct action towards the hundreds of millions of people worldwide lacking official identification. In doing so, it also reminds those who do have ID or manage IDs of the importance of protecting and managing it responsibly.
